Lead Teacher Job Description

Job Summary:

The teacher will develop lesson plans, conduct classroom instruction, evaluate and assess both instructional material and child performance. The position requires parent meetings, interprets child’s progress and will inform parents about strengths, weaknesses and programs.

Description

  • Responsible for developing and planning instructional activities, lesson plans and/or individual educational plans. Must get Directors approval on all curriculums.

    Activity sheets must be used daily, turned in weekly and kept in a binder in the room.

  • Responsible for conducting classroom instruction based on established lesson plans or instructional units.

    • Develops and decides on methods, approaches, and instructional aids to present material.

    • Evaluates and assesses child performance against lesson plans, need for reinstruction, or need for new approaches.

    • Reinforces material previously presented.

    • Researches topics, materials and information to improve instructional material and information.

  • Responsible for monitoring and documenting child’s performance and behavior.

    Decides if child behavior is appropriate and how to deal with behavior problems in an age-appropriate way as part of the center policy.

  • Responsible for participating in 2-parent/teacher conference per year.

  • Responsible for collaborating with other staff in evaluating individual child problems approaches to instructional units and new teaching technologies or procedures available.

  • Responsible for the health and safety of all children at the center.

  • Responsible for 2% of total hours worked will be in staff development.

  • Responsible for keeping rooms clean; following the cleaning schedules and handing them in each week to the director.

  • Responsible for attending all staff meetings and trainings available at the center monthly.

  • Responsible for participating in a monthly newsletter by giving the director any information you want printed.

  • Responsible for following all guidelines and rules according to the DHS Rule 3.

  • Responsible for documenting in the accident log, separation reports and maintaining current child files.

  • Needs to be in the classroom supervising children at all times.

  • Responsible for seeing the center is always neat, clean, organized and maintained so it projects a positive image to the public.
